9. Torque the securing bolts to 51 to 61 N⋅m (38 to
44 lb ft.
10. Replenish the transmission fluid.
11. Check for fluid leaks at the filter covers.

Transfer Case (Drop Box)

Change the Transfer Case Oil
Note: The oil in the transfer case must be warm to
make draining the oil easier.

1. Remove both the drop box drain plugs (2) and
allow the oil to drain.
2. Inspect the drained transfer case oil for evi-
dence of dirt, foreign matter or excessive water.
(a small amount of condensation is normal dur-
ing operation). Report oil contamination to
BELL EQUIPMENT Product Support.
Note: Dispose of the old oil at a proper disposal facil-
ity.
3. Clean and re-insert both the drain plugs (2) into
the drop box.
4. Tighten the drain plug to 25 to 32 N⋅m (38 to 45
lb ft).
5. Remove the oil fill plug (1) from the drop box.
6. Remove the oil level fitting (3) from the drop box.
7. Refill the drop box with clean oil, through the fill
hole (1) until the oil flows from the level hole (3)

8. Drive the machine for no more than 2 minutes to
allow the oil to fill the drop box oil cooler.
9. Stop the machine and recheck the oil level.
10. Top up the drop box oil level via the oil fill hole
(1) until the oil flows from the oil level fitting hole
(3).
Check the Transfer Case Oil Level
1. Remove the oil level fitting (3).
2. The oil level must be level with the oil level plug
hole.
3. If the oil needs replenishing, fill through the level
or filler hole until oil begins to flow from the hole.
4. Replace the level and filler plug and check for oil
leaks at the plug when the transmission has
been operating for approximately five minutes.
5. Use the correct grade of oil. Refer to
Specifications-Recommended Fuels, Lubri-
cants and Coolant.

Hydraulics

Change the Return Filters
1. Clean the area around the filters and the filter
housing.
2
2. Unscrew and remove the return filters (1) and
seals from the return filter housing (2).
3. Install new filters and seals onto the return filter
housing.
4. Lubricate the seals with a film of clean oil before
assembly.
5. Hand tighten the filters and then tighten a further
90°.
‹ CAUTION
Only BELL EQUIPMENT filters are to be used.
BELL EQUIPMENT filters have the correct mi-
cron filtration rating for the hydraulic system.
