CHAPTER 13. 1 000 HOURS SERVICE

Introduction

The 1 000 hours service must be performed when
the machine has operated for 1 000 hours and the
service must be repeated every 1 000 hours thereaf-
ter.
Every 1 000 hours service must be performed by
qualified service personnel.

Service Instructions

Ensure that the machine is in the service position.
Refer to
Pre-service Instructions, Chapter 7.
Perform all the Daily or 10 Hourly Service Checks.
Perform the following additional tasks:

Engine

Change the Fuel Filters
Procedure described in
Hours Service.
Change the Air Conditioner
Compressor Drive Belts
‹ CAUTION
Do not replace drive belts individually. Replace
both if one is faulty.
1. Release the tension on the air conditioner com-
pressor drive belts and remove the old drive
belts.

2. Unscrew and remove the bolts (1) securing the
fan to the viscous hub.
3. Move the fan backwards to provide sufficient
clearance for the drive belts.

4. Manouevre the new drive belts between the vis-
cous hub and the fan.
5. Fit the drive belts to the air conditioner compres-
sor pulley and the engine pulley.
6. Adjust the drive belts tension.
7. Re-position the fan and secure back in place
with the securing bolts.
8. Re-check the tension of the drive belts after a 10
hour running-in period.
Change the Alternator Drive Belts
‹ CAUTION
Do not replace drive belts individually. Replace
both if one is faulty.
1. Remove the air conditioner compressor drive
belts (if fitted). Refer to previous instruction.
2. Release the tension on the alternator drive belts.
3. Remove and replace the drive belts by moving
the fan backwards and manoeuvring the belts as
described in the previous instruction.
4. Replace the drive belts and check the belt ten-
sion as described in the previous instruction.
5. Re-position the fan and secure back in place
with the securing bolts.
6. Adjust the drive belts tension.
7. Re-check the tension of the drive belts after a 10
hour running-in period.
