To select LOW range the following must be done:
Stop the machine.
Select neutral (N)
Move the range selector switch to the LOW
range position (down).
• The low range indicator will illuminate.
Select reverse (R) then drive (D).
When the ground conditions improve the inter axle
differential lock and LOW range function must be
disengaged. To disengage the inter axle differential
lock the following must be done:
Stop the machine when on improved ground
conditions.
Select neutral (N).
Turn the differential lock counter clockwise to
the OUT (O) position.
• The inter axle differential lock indicator will go
off.
Move the range selector switch to the HIGH
range position (switch in off position).
• The low range indicator will go off.
Select reverse (R) then drive (D).
Drive off slowly changing gears when required.

Operating with Controlled
Traction Differential (CTD) Lock
Do not engage the CTD lock while the machine is
travelling and do not engage on tar or graded
surfaces.
It is recommended that both the inter-axle differential
locks and the CTD locks are engaged when the ma-
chine is travelling over poor ground conditions.
The CTD lock is engaged and disengaged as fol-
lows:

Loading the Machine

When loading the machine the following must be

Raising the Bin

To raise the bin the following must be done:
Note: The tip control lever is spring loaded to the
central position (holding position).
‹ CAUTION
Stop the machine prior to entering poor ground
conditions.
Depress and hold down the CTD switch.
Engage 1st gear and slowly drive the machine
through the poor ground conditions.
When the terrain improves, slow the machine to
a crawl and release the CTD lock.
Position the machine straight for dumping.
Apply the park brake/emergency brake.
Select neutral (N) on the gear shift control.
When the loading operator signals that the bin is
fully loaded the following must be done:
Select drive (D) on the gear shift control.
Release the park brake and drive off slowly.
Position the machine straight for dumping.
Apply the park brake
Select neutral (N) on the gear shift control.
To raise the bin increase the engine speed to
approx. 1 500 rpm, move the tip control lever to-
wards the rear of the cab and hold in position
until the bin is almost to maximum travel.
Reduce engine speed as the bin reaches maxi-
mum travel.
Release the tip control lever.
