CHAPTER 16. AS REQUIRED SERVICE

Introduction

This chapter details services which are described in
the maintenance schedule as tasks which are per-
formed as required.
Some unscheduled maintenance tasks are also in-
cluded in this chapter.

Service Instructions

Ensure that the machine is in the service position.
Refer to
Pre-service Instructions, Chapter 7.

Engine

Note: For further engine information or details not
shown in this manual, refer to the ADE Engine Re-
pair Manual.
Bleed the Fuel System
The fuel system must be bled after performing serv-
ice procedures on the fuel system. This ensures that
any air that may have entered the fuel system has
been expelled.
‹ CAUTION
If the fuel tank has been re-filled after it has been
drained or allowed to run empty, it is important
to bleed the fuel system before attempting to
start the engine.
1. Ensure that there is at least a quarter tank of fuel
in the tank.

2. Turn the primer plunger (1) on the fuel lift pump
counter-clockwise to release the primer plunger.

3. Loosen the banjo union on the injection pump
three or four turns.
4. Operate the hand priming pump until an air free
flow of fuel flows from the banjo union.
5. Tighten the banjo union on the injection pump.
6. Close the primer on the fuel lift pump by turning
the primer plunger clockwise.
Service the Injectors and Injector Pump
The injectors must be serviced every 1 200 hours.
The injectors must be changed every 2 400 hours.
The injector pump must be serviced and calibrated
every 3 600 hours.
Contact Bosch personnel to perform any services on
the injectors and injector pump.
Change the Air Cleaner Filter Elements
Change the Primary Filter Element

1. Remove the end cover (4) from the air cleaner
(1).
2. Remove the wing nut (2) from the main filter ele-
ment (3) and discard the main filter element.
3. Clean the end cover and air cleaner, and inspect
for damage and cracks.
4. Inspect the intake pipe, hoses and clamps for
security, cracks and damage.
5. Install the new main filter element into the air
cleaner and secure with the wing nut. Do not
over tighten the wing nut.

6. Install the end cover onto the air cleaner, secur-
ing it with the wing nut.
