Check and Clean the Crankcase
Breather (Oil Separator)
The amount of dust and dirt encountered will deter-
mine the frequency of breather cleaning.
‹ CAUTION
Do not spray steam, water or cleaning solution
directly at the breather, the spray could be
forced into the engine.

1. Ensure that the crankcase breather (1) is secure
and clean.
2. If the breather is encased in mud or dirt it must
be scraped clean or removed and cleaned in
water.
3. Ensure that the tube (2) is not clogged or re-
stricted at the end.
Check the Fuel Tank and Fuel Filler Cap
1. Inspect the fuel tank for damage and security.
2. Ensure that the filler cap is secure and that the
neck is undamaged..

Do not allow the fuel tank to run completely
empty before re-filling If the fuel tank is ever
empty, the engine must not be started and the
fuel system must be bled immediately upon re-
fuelling. Refer to Bleed the Fuel System in this
Chapter.
3. Check the level of fuel in the fuel tank.

4. Every time that the fuel cap (1) is removed,
check it for damage and ensure that the gasket
(2) is serviceable.

Transmission

Change the Transmission Breather
The transmission breather must be changed imme-
diately if it is damaged.
Do not crush or damage the breather during re-
moval to avoid foreign matter entering the
transmission.
Note: The floor plate in the cab must be removed to
gain access to the transmission breather.
