Chapter 2 — Configuring EasyLAN Wireless

Wireless Network Parameters Defined

Parameter
Definition
Mode
Select the mode your network is using to
communicate:
Choose Ad-hoc (802.11) when all of the stations on
the network are IEEE 802.11b compliant.
Choose Infrastructure when all data is being passed
through a root access point.
SSID
Enter the SSID (service set identifier) or network name
for the wireless network.
Channel
Enter an 802.11 channel number from 1 to 11.
This parameter applies to Ad-hoc mode only. If you
are using Infrastructure mode, the access point
determines the correct channel.
Speed
Select the speed (Mbps) of your network.
Access Point
Select medium or high if you have many access points
Density
within range of EasyLAN Wireless. EasyLAN Wireless
searches for a better connection more often with a
higher density setting.
Signal Quality
Displays information about the quality of the signal.
RTS Threshold
Packets to be transmitted that are greater than or equal
to the threshold setting will cause the radio to use
RTS/CTS handshaking prior to transmission.
Setting this parameter to a small value causes RTS
packets to be sent more often, consuming more
available bandwidth, therefore reducing the apparent
throughput of other network packets. However, the
more often RTS packets are sent, the more quickly the
system can recover from interference or collisions
Network Security
Click the Configure Network Security link to
configure the network security parameters. For help,
see "Configuring Network Security with the Web
Browser Interface" on page 38.
