Single-Phase Power Failure

Cryogenic Systems Operation
3-Phase VAC, water cooling and pneumatic gas failures are often
associated with a single-phase VAC power failure. These may incur fault
codes.
The following assumes that no other fault codes occur while the CryoBay
is operating under UPS battery power.
See
"Error Messages"
1
Error Code 102: Single Phase Power Loss
2
The UPS will maintain power to the CryoBay internal
computer board, vacuum pump and other peripherals in
the CryoBay, but not the helium compressor.
3
If the system is in the Vacuum Pumping state, it will
return to Idle (this happens on Fault 103: UPS on
battery).
If the system is in the Cooling or Warming states, it will
4
continue with its operation until the UPS battery power
is exhausted.
After 30 minutes a system in the Operating state the
5
system changes to the Warming state. However, power
will not be applied to the CCC to accelerate its warm up.
Before the system changes to the Warming state, the
user should:
Halt NMR.
a
Eject the sample.
b
Verify that all capacitors are two or more turns away
c
from either extreme of their range.
d
The user may initiate the standard warm- up
procedure (Stop) at any point before the system
automatically initiates it.
6
When the UPS battery is exhausted, the system will be in
the Safe state. The CryoBay sample eject air will remain
on unless the sample eject air is manually turned off by
closing the CryoBay sample eject air needle valve.
After the UPS battery has been exhausted, it will take approximately three
hours for the battery to recharge when power is restored. Normal CryoBay
operation is available while the UPS is charging.
