Cryogenic Systems Operation
The stinger at the end of the flexible cryogenic transfer line could
be ejected and cause injury to personnel in the area, damage to
equipment, or both. This step pressurizes the system. DO NOT
uncouple the probe from the CCC while the system is pressurized.
Follow shutdown procedures to assure that the system is at
standard temperature and pressure before disengaging the
connection between the probe and CCC.
Dimensional changes that occur during the cool-down process
could result in damage to the capacitors if they remain at the end of
their range. DO NOT leave the capacitors at the end of their ranges.
The capacitors should be 2 or 3 turns away from either extreme
before cooling or warming is started.
Failure to retighten the side-arm coupling nut will result in impaired
cooling efficiency of the cryogenic system. During the cooling
process the side-arm coupling nut must be tightened several times.
