Cryogenic Systems Operation
If gas is not leaking from the connector — the helium
cylinder is full and the regulator and shutoff valves
are open, loosen the Swagelok further until it does
leak.
10
Allow a few seconds for the helium to flush the air out
of the connecting line.
Tighten the Swagelok fitting at the Fill Port Adapter until
11
the leakage stops.
Adjust the regulator pressure valve to 225 (1.55 mPa).
12
Check for leaks and retighten the fittings if necessary.
13
The helium line must be pressurized with helium prior to attaching it
to the compressor. Failure to do so will result in contamination of
the helium line. Under no circumstances should a contaminated line
be attached to the CryoBay.
Attach the Aeroquip end of the Fill Port Adapter to the
14
compressor Helium Charge Connector. As soon as the
Aeroquip is mounted, the helium cylinder will proceed to
fill the compressor.
When the compressor has reached 215 (1.5 mPa), remove
15
the Fill Port Adapter from the compressor.
16
Close the valve on the helium cylinder.
17
Close the helium regulator valves.
18
Remove the Fill Port Adapter from the helium line.
Loosen the nut slowly. If the helium line was pressurized, a hissing
will be heard.
19
Remount the helium line to the CryoBay. See
the Helium Gas Supply (Compressed Gas Cylinder)"
page 45.
