Contaminants degrade the performance of the CCC as they
solidify in the cold regions and eventually plug the gas
paths. During the interchange of probes and helium
cylinders, care must be taken to maintain a
contaminant- free helium working gas by following the
correct purging procedures.
The CryoBay controls the following functions. Also see
"Operation Cycle, Status Messages, and States"
• Purging air from the system and helium into the system
before cryogenic operation, which is necessary to
decontaminate the cryogenic lines whenever a probe is
interchanged.
• Vacuum pump operations.
• Control of the helium gas flow during operation.
