How the Melter Processes Data Files

When you insert a USB drive into a melter's USB port, or start the melter with
a USB drive already inserted, the melter automatically does the following in
sequential order:
1. Performs a backup, and places the .NOR file into the /BACKUP folder on
the USB drive. The /BCKUP folder is automatically created if it does not
already exist.
2. The melter checks the USB drive for the presence of a .DAT (upgrade
file), .NOR (configuration file) or .PLC(Flex map file) file and performs the
following actions:
S
If no compatible files (.DAT, .NOR or .PLC) are found, the melter
automatically creates a configuration backup and places the .NOR file
into a /BACKUP folder.
S
If the melter finds a newer .DAT file in the root directory of the USB
drive, the melter upgrades the software to the newer version. If the
melter finds an older .DAT file in the root directory of the USB drive, it
takes no action.
NOTE: If the melter finds multiple .DAT files on the root directory of
the USB drive, the software examines the time/date stamps of all of
the .DAT files to find the newest version (for example, 2.000 is newer
than 1.254). Then it compares its current software version to the
newest version on the USB root; if the newest version on the USB
root is newer than the software version on the melter, an upgrade
occurs.
S
If the melter finds a newer .NOR file on the USB drive, it uploads the
.NOR file, replacing all melter settings with those stored in the newer
.NOR file.
S
If the melter finds a newer .PLC file in the root directory of the USB
drive, it uploads the .PLC file, replacing the existing .PLC file on the
melter. If the melter finds more than one .PLC file, it ignores all the
.PLC files on the USB drive.
NOTE:
S
When transferring files between the melter and BBconn Cloud, the
USB drive must be formatted using FAT or FAT32. No other format,
such as NTFS and exFAT are supported.
