Calibrating the Flow Meter

Although the default settings were determined by using typical adhesive
specific gravity values, if you want the most accurate adhesive output
readings, it is strongly recommended that you calibrate the flow meter. You
will need the following to do this task:
S
Using a PLC or optional touch screen, make sure to Reset the
Adhesive Usage value.
S
Refer to the Material Data Sheet (MDS) for the Specific Gravity value
for the adhesive you are using. You will need this number.
S
An electronic scale and an aluminum pan. Make sure to "zero" out the
weight of the pan.
S
Wear protective gloves and eye wear.
S
The melter must be in a Run state with the pump enabled.
1. Place the aluminum pan under the applicator or applicators and start
dispensing adhesive. The larger the sample the better. You will need to
collect at least 28 grams. Make sure to wear hand and protective eye
wear. When done, place the sample on the electronic scale. Write down
this value.
2. From a PLC or the optional touch screen, view the displayed Adhesive
Usage value.
S
If the two values are the same or very close, within a 1/10
sufficient.
S
If the two values are not close, then you need to calculate a new
Calibration Constant Setting as follows: Current Constant Calibration
Factor * Displayed Adhesive Usage / the weight you measured.
S
Refer to Adhesive Settings below for where to enter new Specific
Gravity and Calibration Constant Settings.
