Note:
This procedure must be carried out with the prescaler already
fitted into the host 2461.
Perform the following steps:
1. Interconnect the 2461 (UUT) and signal generator as shown:
2. Set R27 on assembly 19-1142 fully clockwise
3. Switch on the VXIbus mainframe.
4. If required run the resource manager.
5. Start the setup program "RI2461Chan3Setup.exe" (Racal
Instruments Limited, p/n 60-0165)
(Be aware that this program sets the "Input 3 Hardware
Fitted" bit in the non-vol memory of the 2461, and
should NOT, therefore, be run with a 2461 that is not
fitted with this hardware.)
6. If there is more than one 2461 in system select the
required 2461, otherwise selection is automatic.
7. If the 9087 is connected via the GPIB then it will be
controlled automatically, otherwise set the signal
generator output to 1GHz at 10.0mV rms (i.e. follow the
instructions as presented by the program.)
8. Adjust R27 counter-clockwise until the measured reading
just starts displaying 1000000000 ± 1 (Turn R27 very
slowly to prevent over-shooting the correct adjustment.)
9. When ready, press "Check Inhibit"
10. Again, if the 9087 is connected via the GPIB then it will
be controlled automatically, otherwise set the signal
generator output to 1GHz at 8.5mV rms (i.e. follow the
