Returning to Local Mode

When you press a key on the 4349B's keyboard while operating in remote, the 4349B does not
respond. This is because in remote (as indicated by the display's Rmt annunciator) the 4349B
ignores all front panel inputs except the
key. To return the 4349B to the Local mode,
press the

Query Commands

There are several commands in the alphabetic command directory that end with a question
mark. These commands are called query commands because each returns a response to a
particular question.
In addition to the queries described above, you can create others by appending a question mark
to most commands.

Getting Data from the 4349B

The 4349B can output readings and responses to query commands. As an example, have the
4349B generate a response to a query command by sending:
When you send a query from remote, the 4349B does not display the response as it did when
you executed the command from its front panel. Instead, the 4349B sends the response to
its output bu er. The output bu er is a register that holds a query response or data for a
single measurement until it is read by the computer or replaced by new information. Use
the computer's input statement to get the response from the output bu er. For example, the
following program reads the response (4349B) and prints it.
