Enabling SDCM to Manage the Director

To manage a new Director, it must be recognized by the SDCM application. Follow these
steps to enable SDCM to recognize a new Director.
1. Click the Configure icon at the navigation control panel and select New Product from
the pop-up menu. The New Product dialog box displays. See
Figure 2–25: New Product dialog box
2. Type the IP address you configured earlier, see Configure Network Information on
Page 2-16.
3. Select SAN Director 64 from the Product Type field and click OK. A new Director
icon displays at the Product View.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each new Director.
Verify Communication Between the Director
and SDCM Server
Follow these steps to check Director-to-server communication.
1. At the Windows NT desktop, click the SDCM button at the task bar (bottom of the
desktop) to maximize the Product View.
2. At the Product View, take note of the shape and color of the symbol behind the
Director icon. Table 2–2
