Digital inputs

Digital (transistor) inputs can be located on either the base unit or optional I/O expansion
modules.

Input devices can be connected to DC-powered controllers as either a sinking (NPN) input,
with the return switched, or sourcing (PNP) input, with the signal switched.
Do not mix input connection methodology. All inputs must be wired as PNP or NPN.
PNP and NPN inputs apply to DC connections only.
A common power source can be used for the power supply and I/O devices, or the I/O
devices can be powered from a separate power supply. The I/O channels are optically
isolated from the input power.

Terminals are labeled as COM, shared by all channels, or Ix where x indicates the channel
number. Channel numbering starts with 0.
