2 Product Description

2.1 Construction and Function

12K500 AxonArm Hybrid
The 12K500 AxonArm Hybrid is a mechanically locked elbow joint.
Locking and unlocking is carried out mechanically, e.g. by means of body harnesses.
12K501 AxonArm Ergo
The 12K501 AxonArm Ergo is a myoelectrically locked elbow joint.
Locking and unlocking is controlled myoelectrically by means of electrode signals or with a switch.
12K500 AxonArm Hybrid/12K501 AxonArm Ergo
In combination with other Ottobock prosthetic components of the Axon-Bus prosthetic system such as the 8E500
Michelangelo Hand, it helps the wearer perform everyday tasks.
The key advantages of the AxonArm are as follows:
High holding force
Natural free swing behaviour
Low noise level, no background noise during free swing
Attractive appearance
The 757B501 AxonEnergy Integral supplies power to the Axon-Bus components.
If the Axon-Bus prosthethic system is off or the battery is empty, the elbow joint can still be locked and unlocked in
any position, even under load, by means of the pull cable.

2.2 AFB (Automatic Forearm Balance) Flexion Aid

AxonArm Hybrid 12K500=*, AxonArm Ergo 12K501=*
The flexion aid provides for harmonious movements and
noiseless free swing.
When the prosthetic arm is extended, it stores the
energy generated by gravity and uses it to support flex
ion. As a result, the patient only has to apply minimal
force on the flexion cable or through body momentum.
The level of flexion assistance can be adjusted to the
individual weight of the prosthetic forearm with the
Axon-Bus gripping component and different clothing by
means of a dial.
