6-2-4 Installing the Knife

This section describes the procedure for
installing the knife after it has been re-
moved following Section 6-2-3: "Removing
the Knife", on the previous page.
Before starting the procedure on this page,
turn ON the power switch, and keep the key
switch turned OFF. Use the Knife Replace-
ment Mode Screen on the control panel.
Prepare a new knife.
Take the knife from the wooden box, and
remove the safety cover.
CAUTION
When using a re-sharpened
knife, the height should be 95
mm (3.75") or more. A shorter
knife may cause damage to
the machine.
Attach the knife replacing tools to
the knife.
Screw the tools into the holes for screw 3 and
6.
- Tighten the tools so that they are inside
the rear of the knife by 2 to 3 mm (0.08" to
0.12" ).
- In the drawing, note the front and back
faces of the knife.
Insert the knife into the knife
holder.
1) Be careful that the knife does not hit the machine.
2) Fit the knife replacing tools into grooves 3 and 6
and lift the tools to the right and upward.
3) Lift the tools to the top. Turn the tools clockwise to
lock the knife firmly in place.
- The knife should be raised as far as
possible. Slide the tools quickly up and to
the right. You can feel when the tools
reach the tops of the grooves.
- At this point, the knife is held by the two
knife replacing tools. Tighten the tools
completely so that the knife does not drop.
CAUTION
Before replacing the knife,
read and understand Sections
6-2-1: "Precautions for Knife
Replacement" and 6-2-2:
"Outline and Notes on Knife
Replacement."
