Lowering the Clamp and Knife

During a cutting operation, the clamp and
the knife work as shown to the right.
- The clamp compresses the sheets, then the knife
lowers.
- The knife lifts, then the clamp lifts.
- Normally, when both cutting buttons are pressed at
the same time, the knife and clamp move in the
sequence shown to the right to cut the sheets.
-
Press both cutting buttons at the same
time. If they are pressed at different times
(longer than 0.5 seconds), the machine
will not run.
-
During a cutting operation, if either button
is released, the knife will lift.
-
After completing a cutting cycle, release
the cutting buttons. The machine does
not begin the next cutting cycle, even if
you continue to press the buttons.
Lowering just the clamp.
- It is possible to lower just the clamp to check the
cutting position or remove any air between the
sheets.
- Step down on the foot pedal. The clamp will lower
slowly.
It is also possible to compress the spines
of saddle-stitched booklets to reduce
their bulk. To do this, use the Compress-
ing Mode. Go to Section 4-5: "Compress-
ing Operation."
