WARNING: Do not use front tow eye to lift the vehi-
cle off the ground. Serious personal injury could
result.
CAUTION: Tow eyes are intended for emergency
use only, to rescue a stuck or inoperable vehicle.
Do not use tow eye for tow truck hookup or high-
way towing. You could damage your vehicle.
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
EMERGENCY FRONT TOW EYE
REMOVAL
(1) The front tow eye contains left hand threads,
simply unthread the tow eye from the tow eye
bracket.
INSTALLATION
(1) Lubricate the threads and install the front tow
eye in the front tow eye bracket. Tighten tow eye
until firmly seated against bracket (Fig. 4). No
torque specification is required.
REAR TOW EYE
REMOVAL
(1) Raise the vehicle on hoist. Refer to Group 0,
Lubrication and Maintenance for lifting procedure.
(2) Remove the bolts holding rear tow eye to rear
frame rail (Fig. 5).
INSTALLATION
(1) Position rear tow eye on vehicle.

2 – TOW HOOK
1 – REAR TOW EYE BRACKET
2 – REAR TOW EYE
(2) Install bolts to hold rear tow eye bracket to
rear frame rail. Torque bolts to 75–115 N m (55–85 ft.
lbs.).
(3) Lower the vehicle from hoist.
