REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (Continued)
(2) Remove the air cleaner lid, disconnect the inlet
air temperature sensor and makeup air hose.
(3) Remove the negative battery cable.
(4) Remove fuel cap slowly to release tank pres-
sure.
(5) Raise and support the vehicle.
(6) With vehicle on a hoist, drain fuel from tank.
Support fuel tank with a support such as a transmis-
sion jack stand.
(7) Position a fuel approved container, with a
capacity of at least 16 gallons, under the drain cap
located on the rear of the tank next to the fuel filler
tube.
(8) Remove drain cap and allow fuel to drain (Fig.
15).
(9) Drain fuel tank refer to Draining the Fuel
Tank in this section.

(10) When tank is done draining, install drain cap.
WARNING: There may be fuel in the fill tube.
Remove hose carefully to reduce fuel splash.
(11) Disconnect fuel tank from rubber fill hose.
WARNING: WRAP SHOP TOWELS AROUND HOSES
TO CATCH ANY GASOLINE SPILLAGE.
(12) Remove bolts from the fuel tank straps (Fig.
16).
(13) Lower fuel tank and remove the EVAP line
and recirculation line.
(14) Remove vacuum line from LDP.
(15) Disconnect fuel line, it is in the front of the
fuel tank. This is a quick connect fittings (Fig. 17).
(16) Unlock the electrical connector then discon-
nect the electrical connector (Fig. 18)

(17) Remove hoses from EVAP canister.
(18) Remove fuel tank from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
(1) Position fuel tank on transmission jack.
(2) Raise fuel tank into position.
(3) Connect vacuum line to LDP.
(4) Install EVAP line and recirculation line.
(5) Connect electrical connector (Fig. 18) and lock
the connector.
