Headlamp Switch
1. Parklamp Always ON
2. Parklamp Inoperative
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the park lamp
relay to ground the control circuit on the park lamp relay
when the headlamp switch portion of the turn signal
multifunction switch is turned to the PARK or the HEAD
position. This energizes the park lamp relay, illuminating
the park lamps. The park lamp relay is directly soldered
to the underhood fuseblock circuit board. The
replacement of the underhood fuseblock needs to be
done to replace the park lamp relay.
Diagnostic Aids
The parklamp relay is directly soldered to the underhood
fuseblock circuit board. The replacement of the
parklamp relay means replacing the underhood
fuseblock.
A short to ground, a short to voltage or an open in the
following location may cause a malfunction to occur:
• The park lamp relay control circuit. The park lamp
relay is located within the underhood fuseblock.
• The park lamp relay
• The headlamp switch (turn signal multifunction switch)
supply circuit
• The headlamp switch (turn signal multifunction switch)
ground circuit
• The turn signal multifunction switch which includes the
headlamp switch
• The BCM.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, turn the headlamps ON with the headlamp
switch portion of the turn signal multifunction switch.
Observe the park lamps, the park lamps should be ON.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at
the inoperative park lamp.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance
between the ground circuit and ground.
➢ If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for
an open/high resistance.
