Back-end components and their primary functions

Damper assy

Damper functions to buffer the dynamic pressure of inks within the ink supply tubings during the travel of the carriage
and to retain the bubbles created within the ink from the variation of pressure.
*1
: Dynamic pressure of ink: Ink is subjected to the inertia to maintain its position within the tube despite the travel of the
head / carriage unit. This results in difference of pressure caused within the rightward chamber of the damper assy
(designated as Right chamber within the diagram).

Air flushing unit

In the presence of large amounts of air within the tubing during the initial introduction of ink or upon exchanging the print
head, the air is flushed from the tubings by the air flushing unit. The air vent rods attached to the air vent cap within the
maintenance unit presses on the shutoff valve of the air flushing unit within the head / carriage unit, thus securing the
exhaust passage for the air.
