Specifying a local DHCP relay agent and remote DHCP server
About this task
Use this procedure to specify a VLAN as a DHCP relay agent on the forwarding path to a
remote DHCP server. The DHCP relay agent can forward DHCP client requests from the local
network to the DHCP server in the remote network.
The DHCP relay feature is enabled by default, and the default mode is BootP-DHCP.
Prerequisites
• Enable IP routing and configure an IP address on the VLAN to configure as a DHCP relay
agent.
Procedure
To configure a VLAN as a DHCP relay agent, enter the following from the Global
Configuration mode:
[no] ip dhcp-relay fwd-path <relay-agent-ip> <DHCP-server>
[enable] [disable] [mode {bootp | bootp-dhcp | dhcp}]
