Checking the data transfer on a serial line

The communication between the Processor Unit and peripheral devices takes place using
"datagrams". These datagrams are self-contained and independent entities of data carrying
information. When setting up or maintaining the TV80, it is always useful to verify that the
communication lines with external devices are operational.
Prerequisites
This procedure assumes that a receiver has been connected to the Processor Unit by
means of a serial line, and that the communication line has been initiated. All the relevant
communication parameters have been defined. The external sensor is powered up, and
transmits data.
