DESCRIPTION
This field allows you t o act ivat e/ deact ivat e t his st at ic rout e.
Ent er a descript ive nam e ( up t o 10 print able ASCI I charact ers) for ident ificat ion purposes.
This param et er specifies t he I P net work address of t he final dest inat ion. Rout ing is always
based on net work num ber. I f you need t o specify a rout e t o a single host , use a subnet
m ask of 255.255.255.255 in t he subnet m ask field t o force t he net work num ber t o be
ident ical t o t he host I D.
Ent er t he subnet m ask for t his dest inat ion.
Ent er t he I P address of t he gat eway. The gat eway is an im m ediat e neighbor of your Swit ch
t hat will forward t he packet t o t he dest inat ion. The gat eway m ust be a rout er on t he sam e
segm ent as your Swit ch.
The m et ric represent s t he " cost " of t ransm ission for rout ing purposes. I P rout ing uses hop
count as t he m easurem ent of cost , wit h a m inim um of 1 for direct ly connect ed net works.
Ent er a num ber t hat approxim at es t he cost for t his link. The num ber need not be precise,
but it m ust be bet ween 1 and 15. I n pract ice, 2 or 3 is usually a good num ber.
