41.2.1 Policy Routing Rule Configuration

You m ust first configure a layer- 3 classifier in t he Cla ssifie r screen ( see
and a policy rout ing profile in t he Policy Rout ing screen ( see
Use t his screen t o configure a policy rout e t o override t he default ( short est pat h) rout ing behavior
and forward packet s based on t he classifier and act ion you specify. A policy rout e rule defines t he
m at ching classifier and t he act ion t o t ake when a packet m eet s t he crit eria in t he classifier. The
act ion is t aken only when all t he crit eria are m et . Policy- based rout ing is applied t o incom ing
packet s on a per int erface basis before norm al rout ing. The Swit ch does not perform norm al rout ing
on packet s t hat m at ch any of t he policy rout es.
Click Rule Configur a t ion in t he I P Applica t ion > Policy Rout ing screen t o display t he screen as
shown.

This field allows you t o act ivat e/ deact ivat e t his policy rout ing profile and rules in t he profile.
Ent er a descript ive nam e ( up t o 32 print able ASCI I charact ers) for ident ificat ion purposes.
Spaces are allowed.
Click t his t o creat e a new ent ry or t o updat e an exist ing one.
This saves your changes t o t he Swit ch's run- t im e m em ory. The Swit ch loses t hese changes
if it is t urned off or loses pow er, so use t he Sa ve link on t he t op navigat ion panel t o save
your changes t o t he non- volat ile m em ory when you are done configuring.
Click Ca n ce l t o reset t he fields t o your previous configurat ion.
Click Cle a r t o set t he above fields back t o t he fact ory default s.
This field displays t he index num ber of t he policy rout ing profile. Click a num ber t o edit t he
policy rout ing profile ent ry.
This field displays Ye s when t he policy rout ing profile is act ivat ed and N o when it is
deact ivat ed.
This field displays t he descript ive nam e for t his profile. This is for ident ificat ion purposes
only.
Select an ent ry's check box t o select a specific ent ry. Ot herwise, select t he check box in t he
t able heading row t o select all ent ries.
Click D e le t e t o rem ove t he select ed ent ry from t he sum m ary t able.
Click Ca n ce l t o clear t he check boxes.
