Dest inat ion
Specify an MAC address wit h which t he Swit ch uses t o encapsulat e t he layer- 2 prot ocol
MAC Address
packet s by replacing t he dest inat ion MAC address in t he packet s.
Note: The MAC address can be either a unicast MAC address or multicast MAC address. If
you use a unicast MAC address, make sure the MAC address does not exist in the
address table of a switch on the service provider's network.
Note: All the edge switches in the service provider's network should be set to use the same
MAC address for encapsulation.
Slot ( St acking
This field appears only in st acking m ode. Click t he drop- down list t o choose t he slot num ber
m ode)

Port
This field displays t he port num ber. I n st acking m ode, t he first box field is t he slot I D and

CDP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch t unnel CDP ( Cisco Discovery Prot ocol) packet s so t hat
ot her Cisco devices can be discovered t hrough t he service provider 's net work.
STP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch t unnel STP ( Spanning Tree Prot ocol) packet s so t hat
STP can run properly across t he service provider's net work and spanning t rees can be set up
based on bridge inform at ion from all ( local and rem ot e) net works.
VTP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch t unnel VTP ( VLAN Trunking Prot ocol) packet s so t hat all
cust om er swit ches can use consist ent VLAN configurat ion t hrough t he service provider 's
net work.
Point t o Point
The Swit ch support s PAgP ( Port Aggregat ion Prot ocol) , LACP ( Link Aggregat ion Cont rol
Prot ocol) and UDLD ( UniDirect ional Link Det ect ion) t unneling for a point- t o- point t opology.
Bot h PAgP and UDLD are Cisco's propriet ary dat a link layer prot ocols. PAgP is sim ilar t o
LACP and used t o set up a logical aggregat ion of Et hernet port s aut om at ically. UDLD is t o
det erm ine t he link's physical st at us and det ect a unidirect ional link.
PAGP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch send PAgP packet s t o a peer t o aut om at ically negot iat e
and build a logical port aggregat ion.
LACP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch send LACP packet s t o a peer t o dynam ically creat es
and m anages t runk groups.
UDLD
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Swit ch send UDLD packet s t o a peer 's port it connect ed t o
m onit or t he physical st at us of a link.
Mode
Select Acce ss t o have t he Swit ch encapsulat e t he incom ing layer- 2 prot ocol packet s and
forward t hem t o t he t unnel port ( s) . Select Acce ss for ingress port s at t he edge of t he
service provider's net work.
Note: You can enable L2PT services for STP, LACP, VTP, CDP, UDLD, and PAGP on the
access port(s) only.
Select Tu n n e l for egress port s at t he edge of t he service provider's net work. The Swit ch
decapsulat es t he encapsulat ed layer- 2 prot ocol packet s received on a t unnel port by
changing t he dest inat ion MAC address t o t he original one, and t hen forward t hem t o an
access port . I f t he service( s) is not enabled on an access port , t he prot ocol packet s are
dropped.
