perform ance by reducing broadcast t raffic. VLAN groups can be m odified at any t im e by adding,
m oving or changing port s wit hout any re- cabling.
Shared resources such as a server can be used by all port s in t he sam e VLAN as t he server. I n t he
following figure only port s t hat need access t o t he server need t o be part of VLAN 1. Port s can

I Pv6 ( I nt ernet Prot ocol version 6) , is designed t o enhance I P address size and feat ures. The
increase in I Pv6 address size t o 128 bit s ( from t he 32- bit I Pv4 address) allows up t o 3.4 x 10
addresses. At t he t im e of writ ing, t he Swit ch support s t he following feat ures.

• Neighbor Discovery Prot ocol ( a prot ocol used t o discover ot her I Pv6 devices in a net work)
• Rem ot e Managem ent using ping SNMP , t elnet , HTTP an d FTP services
• I CMPv6 t o report errors encount e red in packet processing and perform diagnost ic funct ions, such
as "ping"
• I Pv4/ I Pv6 dual st ack; t he Swit ch can run I Pv4 and I Pv6 at t he sam e t im e
• DHCPv6 client and relay
• Mult icast List ener Discovery ( MLD) snooping and pr o xy
