Use privat e VLAN if you want you t o block t raffic bet ween port s in t he sam e VLAN. Com m u n it y and
I sola t e d VLANs are secondary privat e VLANs t hat m ust be associat ed wit h a Pr im a r y privat e
VLAN.
• Pr im a r y: Port s in a Pr im a r y VLAN are prom iscuous and t hey can com m unicat e wit h all
prom iscuous port s in t he sam e prim ary VLAN, and all port s in associat ed com m unit y and isolat ed
VLANs. They cannot com m unicat e wit h port s in different prim ary VLANs.
• Com m unit y: Port s in a Com m u n it y VLAN can com m unicat e wit h prom iscuous port s in an
associat ed Pr im a r y VLAN and ot her com m unit y port s in t he sam e Com m u n it y VLAN. They
cannot com m unicat e wit h port s in I sola t e d VLANs, non- associat ed Pr im a r y VLAN prom iscuous
port s nor com m unit y port s in different Com m unit y VLANs.
