Ferrite clamp filters must be attached to the cables connected to the
OmniScan MX2. For details, see "Ferrite clamp filters" on page 46.
Ferrite clamp filters
Before using the OmniScan MX2, attach the ferrite clamp filters (supplied with the
OmniScan MX2) to the peripheral cables that will be connected to the OmniScan MX2
instrument and its modules. The optional peripherals are as follows:
Olympus UT probes
Olympus PA probe
USB devices connected with a USB cable (printers, etc.)
Ethernet network
Scanner interface
Alarm and I/O
If the ferrite clamp filters are not attached, the OmniScan MX2 instrument may fail to
comply with the international and European electromagnetic emission specifications.
To attach the clamp filters
IMPORTANT
Make sure that the cable is not clamped in between the pawls of the ferrite clamp
filter.
Attach the ferrite clamp filters as closely as possible to the cable ends. The ferrite
clamp filters are not effective unless they are immediately adjacent to the cable
end connected to the OmniScan MX2.
Use the ferrite clamp filter with the corresponding cable diameter. The filter must
not slip easily or be difficult to clip onto the cable.
Make sure that the two ferrite clamp-filter parts are closed tight until the clamp
clicks.
1.
Attach the ferrite clamp filter on the cable of the Olympus UT probes, in close
proximity to the connector for the OmniScan MX2.
2.
Attach the ferrite clamp filter on the cable of the Olympus PA probe, in close
proximity to the connector for the OmniScan MX2.
