Use the mvr group command to statically configure all multicast group
u
addresses that will join the MVR VLAN. Any multicast data associated
an MVR group is sent from all source ports, and to all receiver ports
that have registered to receive data from that multicast group.
The IP address range from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 is used for
u
multicast streams. MVR group addresses cannot fall within the reserved
IP multicast address range of 224.0.0.x.
MVR source ports can be configured as members of the MVR VLAN
u
using the switchport allowed vlan
command, but MVR receiver ports should not be statically configured as
members of this VLAN.
IGMP snooping must be enabled to a allow a subscriber to dynamically
u
join or leave an MVR group (see the
that only IGMP version 2 or 3 hosts can issue multicast join or leave
messages.
IGMP snooping and MVR share a maximum number of 255 groups. Any

multicast streams received in excess of this limitation will be flooded to
all ports in the associated VLAN.
