The 2U chassis supports a maximum of eight disk drives. Install the drives from left to
right.
Note: All disk drive bays must be populated to maintain proper system cooling. Drive bays must
either have a disk drive or a drive blank installed.

Note: Drives can be removed during operation (hot swapped) only if you are running an operating
system that supports RAID.
Caution: Use caution when working with the SATA/SAS backplane. Do not touch the backplane
with any metal objects, and make sure that ribbon cables do not touch the backplane. Also,
regardless of how many drives are installed, all eight drive carriers must remain in the chassis to
maintain proper airflow. Failure to follow these precautions can damage the equipment.
