6.2.6 SCANNING MECHANISM

CIS Structure
This machine uses a contact image sensor [A] (!: Digital Processes – Image Processing
– Black and White CIS Systems).
The scanning unit is below the original feed path. The CIS scans black and white originals
a maximum of 926.5 mm (361/2 inches) wide at 600 dpi.
The CIS unit is made of 5 sections connected at four joints [B]. If you look from above, the
CIS sections are numbered from left to right as CIS-1 to CIS-5.
