VISTA-10SEa Installation and Setup Guide
Phone Module Wiring
The 4285/4286 Phone Module is wired between the control panel and the premises telephone.
It listens for multifrequency DTMF tones on the phone line and reports them to the control
panel. During on-premises phone access, it powers the premises phones; during off-premises
phone access, it seizes the line from the premises phones and any answering machines.
NOTE:
1. Make 12V (+) and (–) and Data-in and Data-out connections from the phone module to
the control, using the connector cable supplied with the phone module (see Figure 8-1).
2. Insert the keyed connector at the other end of the connector cable into the mating header
on the phone module (see diagram on next page for location of the header).
Terminals 1 through 4 on the phone module are factory pre-connected to the LIU as shown in
the wiring diagram that follows in Figure 8-1 on the next page. Terminals 5, 6, and 7 are not
used.
Use a 611 jack with a direct-connect cord and make all connections exactly as shown.
Caller ID Units
If the telephone system on the premises includes a stand-alone Caller ID unit, connect the
Caller ID unit directly between the 611 jack and the premises telephones.
8-2
The phone lines must be in service for the phone module to function, even when
the system is being accessed from an on-premises phone.
