The total current drawn from the alarm output terminals cannot exceed 2 amps. The backup
battery must be installed because this current is supplied by that battery.
Going beyond the limits indicated (2 amps) will cause the electronic protection to trip and turn off
the output voltage.
This control provides temporal pulse sounding of fire alarm sounders.
Temporal pulse sounding for a fire alarm consists of the following:
3 pulses – pause – 3 pulses – pause – 3 pulses. . . repeated.
Sounder Connections
The control provides a 12VDC output, which can power external alarm sounders (bells or
sirens). This output will activate a sounder when an alarm occurs.
Make connections to alarm output terminals 3 (+) and 4 (–). See Figure 9-1.
Siren Supervision
A hardware-enabled option for Siren Supervision has been added to this system. If Siren
Supervision is enabled and the "Alarm Output" loop connected to an external sounder is
opened or shorted, the message "Bell Failure" (on alpha keypads) or "CHECK 70" (on fixed-
word keypads) will be displayed, accompanied by a trouble sound. The following report will
also be sent to the central station (if trouble reporting is enabled): "Contact ID report for Bell
Supervision is event code 321."
To enable the Siren Supervision option, take the following steps:
1. Cut the red jumper on the control board (See Figure 9-1).
2. Connect a 1000-ohm resistor across the sounder terminals, not at the Alarm Output
terminals!
