North Bridge Configuration submenu

The North Bridge Configuration submenu allows you to configure settings for
the GME965 chip.
Meaning
This item allows you to enable or disable thermal management for the memory control hub (MCH). To only
react if the catastrophic trip point is reached, select Catastrophic. The catastrophic trip point for the MCH is
118°C.
This item allows you to enable or disable thermal management for the DDR2 SDRAM modules, if the DDR2
SDRAM modules support it.
This item allows you to remap PCI memory above the total physical memory of your unit. This might increase
the amount of RAM available to applications and the operating system.
This item allows the BIOS to create an area in RAM that will be used exclusively by legacy devices. Some
boards require access to specific memory addresses to function properly. This item lets you set aside an
appropriate area in RAM for these devices. However, since you cannot install any boards in the
Matrox 4Sight X unit that require a memory hole to be created in RAM, set this item to Disabled (default).
This item allows you to select which display device will be your primary display device (the device that will
display the BIOS messages and the Microsoft Windows logo upon startup).
By selecting IGD, the integrated graphics device (IGD) of the north bridge GME965 chip will be used to output
video data to a display device. The IGD allows you to connect a digital display device to the unit's DVI-D port,
and an analog display device to the unit's analog display port.
By selecting PCI/IGD, a PCI-connected display board will be used to output video data to a display device. If
you do not have a PCI display board installed in the unit, the IGD of the north bridge GME965 chip will be
used.
The Matrox 4Sight X unit will typically not have a PCI-connected display board installed (since it has an
integrated graphics controller); therefore, select IGD (default).
This item allows you to select the amount of memory used by the integrated graphics controller.
