100 Chapter 5: Matrox 4Sight X hardware reference

Power supply, fan, and chassis

If you have purchased the integrated-unit version of Matrox 4Sight X, your unit
will include a power supply, fan, and chassis. The fan is installed inside the metal
chassis, and an appropriate power cord is included with the power supply.
If you have purchased the motherboard-only version of Matrox 4Sight X, you will
have to purchase the power supply and power cord, fan, and chassis yourself. Refer
to Chapter 4: Installing the Matrox 4Sight X motherboard in a custom chassis for
details on the specifications of these components. Note that the Matrox 4Sight XB
unit is only available in the integrated-unit version.

Power supply

The integrated-unit version of Matrox 4Sight X features an external, universal
power supply with the following specifications:
• Input: from 100 to 240 V
• Output:
- PCI/104-Express Matrox 4Sight X units:
with an Intel Celeron 550 processor: 12 V
with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor: 12 V
power supply.
- Matrox 4Sight XB units, with either processor: 12 V
power supply.
• A non-resettable fuse, which cuts off the power supply if the current exceeds 12 A.

Fan

The fan, which is used to cool the entire unit, is rated at 18 - 38 cubic feet/minute

(0.5 - 1.07 m
/minute). It operates at a speed controlled by the on-board fan
controller, based on the processor's temperature. Note that when the unit is first
turned on, or restarted, the fan will initially operate at its maximum speed.
