92 Chapter 5: Matrox 4Sight X hardware reference

I/O interfaces

The Matrox 4Sight X unit integrates the following I/O interfaces:
• Six USB ports and one USB header (USB 2.0 and 1.1 compatible).
• Two serial ports.
• Two GigE Ethernet networking interfaces.
• One PCI interface and one PCIe interface.
• Three IEEE 1394b ports.
• One analog display port and one DVI-D port (described earlier in this chapter).
• One audio interface that supports one audio input and one audio output.
• One auxiliary I/O connector (which supports 16 user-defined input signals and
16 user-defined output signals).

USB interfaces

The universal serial bus (USB) is a serial bus standard for interconnecting
peripherals. A single USB interface can support up to 127 devices.
Matrox 4Sight X is equipped with six high-speed USB 2.0 interfaces running at
480 Mbits/s. These USB 2.0 interfaces, which are also USB 1.1-compatible,
support high-speed peripherals such as an external hard disk drive, a
USB-connected CD/DVD drive, or a printer, as well as low-speed peripherals such
as a keyboard or mouse.
Matrox 4Sight X is also equipped with a USB header, allowing you to connect a
10-pin USB flash module or two additional 4-pin USB devices.
1. The Matrox 4Sight XB unit has a riser board attached to the PCIe interface, allowing
you to connect Matrox or third-party full-height, half-length PCIe boards to the riser
board. Also, in the Matrox 4Sight XB unit, the PCI interface cannot be used.
