5 Mounting the Unit
5.1 Environmental Requirements
In environments with airborne liquids, particles, or corrosive gases, ensure that the protection rating of the equipment matches the
installation environment. Failure to meet requirements for ambient conditions can reduce the lifetime of the AC drive. Ensure that
requirements for humidity, temperature, and altitude are met.
Ensure that the space where the AC drive is installed, and the AC drive itself, is clean and free from particles, dust, or humidity that
could harm the AC drive when it is powered on. For detailed ambient conditions specifications, see

Vibration and shock
The AC drive complies with requirements for units mounted on the walls and floors of production premises, and in panels bolted to
walls or floors.
AC drive is suitable for marine installations.
Installation requirements:

Make sure that there is sufficiently free space around the AC drive for cooling, see
•
Some free space is also necessary for maintenance.
•
Make sure that the mounting surface is sufficiently flat.
5.2 Cooling Requirements
The AC drive produces heat in operation. The fan moves air and decreases the temperature of the drive. Make sure that there is
sufficiently free space around the drive.
Make sure that the temperature of the cooling air does not go above the maximum ambient operating temperature or below the
minimum ambient operating temperature.
Repeated overheating will shorten the lifetime of the converter.

It is of utmost importance for the operation and lifetime of the frequency converter that the enclosure is well ventilated to
keep the temperature below the maximum operating temperature.
