Operating Guide
5.5.1.2 Mounting the Power Unit, FR8–FR12
This topic gives instructions on how to mount the power unit in the cabinet for VACON® NXP IP00, FR8–FR12.
To make replacement of spare parts and other service work easier, we recommend mounting the power unit on rails. See all installa-
tion measurements for mounting rails in
Dimension
Information.
NOTE! If the power unit is installed before the AC choke, the center of gravity is high at this stage. Support the enclosure thoroughly
during the assembly.
Procedure
1.
Fasten the mounting rails to the sides of the cabinet. Leave a space between the unit and the walls on both sides for the
internal cooling air circulation.
2.
To allow mounting the power unit to the rear wall of the cabinet, install two fixing bars on the rear wall of the cabinet at
appropriate levels.
3.
If the space around the power unit is narrow, lead the internal power cables along the wall and fasten them in brackets
before mounting the power unit. See
4.
Fasten the power unit to the rear wall of the enclosure using the fixing holes in the frame.
5.
Install a PE busbar, for instance, at the bottom front of the enclosure.
The PE busbar must be connected to external ground at the installation site according to local regulations.

5.5.1.3 Mounting the Control Unit, FR8–FR12
The VACON
NXP FR8–FR12 drive can be delivered with the control unit either integrally mounted on the power unit or separated
®
from the power unit and fixed to the mounting box. The mounting box can be installed to a sidewall or the frame of the enclosure. If
the drive was ordered with the control unit separated from the power unit, use these instructions to mount the control unit in the
cabinet.
NOTE! If needed, connect the 24 V connecting cable and the fiber optic cables to the power unit before mounting the control unit.
See
7.4 Fiber Cable
Connections.
For further installation of other devices (breakers, fuses, EMC grounding), it is recommended that an installation plate be mounted
in front of the AC choke, leaving the bottom part open for air circulation.
