Restrictions Imposed By Protected Mode

Protected Mode prevents access to services that are not required after the IO-Link device is
configured and in normal operation. Protected Mode disables features that can make the
device vulnerable to disruptive actions. By doing so, Protected Mode helps to reduce the attack
surface.
When the IO-Link device is in Protected Mode, the device prevents execution of the following
tasks:
• Perform remote device resets
• Perform unconnected messaging to the Service Parameter object of the device
• Perform connected messaging to the Service Parameter object of the device from a
node other than the owner-controller
The ArmorBlock 5000 8-channel IO-Link master module supports both IO-Link port-level and
IO-Link device-level reporting of IO-Link events.
Table 8 describes the maximum number of events that are supported for each IO-Link port
and IO-Link device.
