CHAPTER 9:
9.1

General

The power sink module allows the power supply to absorb energy fed back from the load. Internal
logic module senses the output voltage on the busbars of the power supply. If the sensed voltage is
higher than the desired voltage, the logic signals the power sink module to sink current across the
output terminals, thus maintain a constant voltage at the load.
The Power Sink module also allows a faster response when the power supply is programmed to a
lower output voltage.
Absorbs 300W peak power.
Ideal for electric motors (motors often return energy to the power supply during a brake
action).
Ideal for ATE systems, which require a fast response when the power supply is
programmed to a lower output voltage.
To prevent damage to the power sink module and/or to the power supply:
1. Do not exceed the On and Off times (refer to Safety & Installation Manual, Specifications
section).
2. Do not exceed peak power of 300W returned energy.

Power Sink Enable / Disable

To enable / disable power sink via power supply's front panel, act as follows:
1.
Press the SYST button. SYST (GREEN) LED illuminates.
2.
Rotate the Voltage encoder until PSINK appears on the voltage display.
3.
Rotate the Current encoder to set ON or OFF. Press the Current encoder for selection, display
blinks once to acknowledge the setting.
4.
Exit SYST menu by pressing the Back button or the SYST button.
To enable / disable power sink via communication, refer to SYSTem:PSINk[:STATe] <Bool>
command.
