Half crankcase — separate
• Keep the engine in a horizontal position so that the crankcase
halves, clutch side, is facing upward.
• Remove the crankshaft retaining screw Q and the temporary
fastener on the connecting rod.
• Take out the10 M6 Allen screws W from the crankcase.
N Note:
The M6 Allen screw (i.e. 1 screw) E with the
copper ring gasket, next to the water union for
the coolant outlet ("COOLANT" position), is a
crankcase retaining screw.
I Caution:
The half crankcases can only be separated
with the engine on the stand. The flywheel
side half crankcase must be bolted on to the
stand.
• Carefully lift the clutch side half crankcase R up from the
flywheel side half crankcase T.
I Caution:
Remember the following points:
• Tap carefully at different points around
the clutch side half crankcase with a
plastic hammer to separate the 2 half
crankcases.
• Make sure you lift up the half crankcase
vertically and in parallel, without tilting it,
to avoid damaging the crankshaft
bearings.
• Work slowly and carefully,
• do not damage the gasket contact
surfaces,
• never use excessive force.
• If the two half crankcases don't come
apart, check that all the
retaining screws have been removed.
N Note:
When you lift up the clutch side half crankcase
the thrust washer may remain stuck inside
the half crankcase.

Coppia semicarter — separazione
• Mantenere il motore in posizione orizzontale in modo che il
semicarter, lato frizione, sia rivolto verso l'alto.
• Rimuovere la vite di bloccaggio albero motore Q e il
fissaggio provvisorio della biella.
• Togliere le 10 viti a brugola M6 W dei carter.
N Nota:
I Attenzione: I semicarter si possono separare solo con il

I Attenzione: Far attenzione ai seguenti punti:

• Battere in più punti con cautela sul
semicarter, lato frizione, con un martello
in plastica, per separare i 2 semicarter.
• Far attenzione che il semicarter sia
sollevato parallelamente per evitare
l'inclinazione e quindi il danneggiamento
delle bronzine dell'albero motore.
• Lavorare lentamente e con cautela,
• non danneggiare le superfici di tenuta,
• non applicare mai eccessiva forza.
• Se non si separano i semicarter,
controllare se sono effettivamente state
rimosse tutte le viti di fissaggio dei carter.
Sollevando il semicarter, lato frizione, il
rasamento può rimanere incollato all'interno
del semicarter.
