Gate Drive Modules (Low-Side and High-Side)

Four different sets of Low-Side and High-Side Gate Drive Modules are available:
34
– High and Low-Side Gate Drive with different gate Drive resistors
preinstalled on the module: 0 , 10 , and 100 . Additionally, Gate Drive
Modules with no gate Drive resistors are also available, see "Custom Gate
Drive Resistors" on page 65.
– The Low-Side Gate Drive Module has the I
Probe sockets installed and the CAL SMA connector.
– The High-Side Gate Drive Modules do not have the I
Oscilloscope Probe sockets or the CAL SMW connector installed.
– Use a high resistance gate drive module (100  or greater) for Gate Charge
Measurements.
– Low Value Gate Resistors may cause excess ringing.
The 0 Gate Drive module (PD1000-66542 with 0  gate drive
resistors) does not allow for making gate current (I
charge measurements. When using a 0  Low-Side Gate Drive, do
not connect the N2819A Differential Oscilloscope probe.
Always use High-Side and Low-Side Gate Drive Modules with the
same value resistors. Using a 100 Ω Gate Resistor on the
High-Side transistor and a 0 Ω resistor on the Low-Side transistor,
could cause false turn-on of the non-switching transistor due to
high dv/dt and the weakly-driven gate. A 0 Ω resistor on the
transistor that is not being switched is generally okay.
Switching characteristics of the DUT are influenced by the Gate
resistor value. A small resistor value allows for faster switching
but it increasing the ringing. A large gate resistor value slows
down the turn-on of the device but allows for a more accurate
gate charge measurement.
