When concatenating AT commands please keep in mind that the sequence of processing may be different Note: from the sequential order of command input. Therefore, if the consecutive order of the issued commands and associated responses is your concern, avoid concatenating commands on the same line. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. The most common workaround to this problem is to write a script which includes a decimal code instead of an escape sequence. This way you can write, for example, short messages which may contain differently coded characters. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. AT Commands for EDGE Modems (S000371G)

This code is not a printable character and therefore not defined for the UCS2 alphabet. It shall be treated as the accompanying control character. As the standard GSM alphabet does not provide a backspace functionality, the Multi-Tech EDGE modem is designed to use the GSM character 08 (hex 0x08) as backspace. This allows the user to easily erase the last character when using an ASCII terminal.

Case 6 Every 16-bit value is sent to TE as IRA representation of it. It is assumed that number of bytes is even. Example: C3x46’H 43’H, 33’H, 34’H, 36’H, displayed as “C346”. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. AT Commands for EDGE Modems (S000371G)

UDP, the connection protocol has no or only minimum error handling functions. Other network protocols are using high level flow control mechanisms. For example, to prevent loss of data the TCP protocol uses retransmission algorithms. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. AT Commands for EDGE Modems (S000371G)
  • Page 16: Communication Between Customer Application And Multi-Tech Wireless Modem

Since both lines are driven by independent devices, collisions may (and will) happen; i.e., while the TE issues an AT command, the Multi-Tech wireless modem starts sending an URC. This will probably lead to the TE’s misinterpretation of the URC being part of the AT command’s response.

1200 bps the delay must be 300ms. For higher bit rates use of the default delay is sufficient. • The Multi-Tech wireless modem’s autobaud feature detects the bit rate currently used by the TE. However, this detection suffers some limitations described in Section 4.9.1, Autobauding. If autobauding is enabled, the AT+ICF read command does not show the current character framing, but the character framing that will be used when autobauding is disabled.

The read command returns an alphanumeric string indicating whether or not network authentication is required. The write command allows the Multi-Tech wireless modem to store the entered password. The Multi-Tech wireless modem offers various options to verify the present status of network registration: For example, the AT+COPS command indicates the currently used network. With AT+CREG you can also check the current status and activate an unsolicited result code which appears whenever the status of the network registration changes (e.g., when the ME is powered up, or when the network cell changes).

Commands The Multi-Tech Wireless EDGE modem has an embedded TCP/IP stack that is driven by AT commands and enables the host application to easily access the Internet. The advantage of this solution is that it eliminates the need for the application manufacturer to implement its own TCP/IP and PPP stacks, thus minimizing cost and time to integrate Internet connectivity into a new or existing host application.
  • Page 132 ∗ - 1 SMTP profile The TCP/IP stack of Multi-Tech Wireless EDGE modem supports using several service profiles at the same • time, provided all of them are running on the same connection profile. Under some network conditions the GPRS attach command fails, if entered immediately after a "+CREG: 1" URC. This can be avoided by waiting at least 1s before entering the GPRS attach command. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. AT Commands for EDGE Modems (S000371G)

In this case the application should not try to deactivate the PDP context by using the commands AT+CGACT or ATH. If DTR is configured to disconnect data connections (AT&D2), then the application should not toggle DTR during the implicit PDP context deactivation and before “NO CARRIER” is received.
