Chokes

If motor cables are > 25 m, a choke must be used on the servo amplifier's output.
The choke is used to
}
Reduce the level of interference on the motor cable
}
Deal with EMC problems retrospectively
}
Protect the semiconductor on the inverted rectifier in the case of an earth fault or short
circuit
}
Protect the motor from high voltage rise rates
Additional earthing measures are unnecessary because, unlike filters, chokes do not have
to divert disturbances to earth.
