Replacing batteries

8.1

Battery life

The power supply unit UPS is equipped with maintenance-free, valveregulated
lead-acid (VRLA) AGM batteries. Based on their EUROBAT classification, these
batteries have a service life of 3 - 5 years. Their usable life is highly dependent
on temperature (up to 20°C: 4 - 6 years; see Fig. 3). The capacity of the batteries
is around 60% after 3 - 5 years.
We recommend replacing the batteries every 2 years as part of regular mainte-
nance.

If the system is not going to be used for some time, the batteries must be fully
charged first to prevent self-discharge causing damage to them; see Chapter 7.2,
page 15.
