4.3 Field Replaceable Units

4.3.1 Removing an M.2 FRU

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position of the M.2 FRU.
Determine the position of the M.2 FRU to be removed. Do not remove the entire M.2 module
that has the operating system installed. Otherwise, services on the compute node will be
affected.

Step 2 Release the handle of the M.2 FRU, and pull out the M.2 FRU by holding its handle. See (1)
and (2) in
Issue 06 (2019-08-10)
– Heat sink of 17 mm high for processor 1 and heat sink of 42 mm high for processor
2. The two heat sinks are not interchangeable. Air ducts are keyed to prevent
incorrect installation.
– Heat sink with a notched corner for processor 1 and heat sink without a notched
corner for processors 2. The two heat sinks are 42 mm high and are not
interchangeable. "Front" and "Rear" are marked on the heat sinks to prevent
incorrect installation.
