Routing Information Protocol (RIP)

passive-interface

redistribute
This command stops RIP from sending routing updates on the specified interface.
Use the no form to disable this feature.
Syntax
[no] passive-interface vlan vlan-id
vlan-id - VLAN ID. (Range: 1-4094)

Command Usage
If this command is used to stop sending routing updates on an interface, the
attached subnet will still continue to be advertised to other interfaces, and
updates from other routers on that interface will continue to be received and
processed.
Use this command in conjunction with the
routing updates sent to specific neighbors.

Console(config-router)#passive-interface vlan1

This command imports external routing information from other routing domains
(that is, directly connected routes, protocols, or static routes) into the autonomous
system. Use the no form to disable this feature.
Syntax
[no] redistribute (bgp | connected | ospf | static} [metric metric-value]
bgp – External routes will be imported from the Border Gateway Protocol
(BGP) into this routing domain.
connected - Imports routes that are established automatically just by
enabling IP on an interface.
ospf - External routes will be imported from the Open Shortest Path First
(OSPF) protocol into this routing domain.
static - Static routes will be imported into this routing domain.
